MARCOS VALLE, 2025 release, 180g reissue of Marcos Valle’s 1970 self-titled psychedelic MPB masterpiece
SIDE A:
1. Quarentão Simpático (Renatão)
2. Ele E Ela
3. Dez Leis
4. Pigmalião 70
5. Que Eu Canse E Descanse
SIDE B:
1. Esperando O Messias
2. Freio Aerodinâmico
3. Os Grilos (Crickets Sing For Ana Maria)
4. Suíte Imaginária

Originally released in 1970, Marcos Valle marks one of the artist’s most creative and genre-defying phases, capturing his transition from second-wave bossa nova star to psychedelic MPB innovator. Known for its instantly recognizable artwork featuring Valle reclined on a bed, the album mixes samba, soul, jazz, rock, and Northeastern Brazilian rhythms into a brilliantly eclectic whole.
Joined by musicians from the Minas scene, including Novelli (bass), Nelson Angelo (guitar), and Vagner Chizo (keys), Valle embraces rich instrumentation and surprising arrangements. The track “Ele E Ela” later became widely recognized through Jay-Z’s sample on “Thank You,” while “Freio Aerodinâmico” showcases Valle’s experimental side with scatting and syncopated grooves.
