Post modern timba uit Puerto Rico, 2017 release van Francisco “Pirulo” Rosada Rosario van een nieuwe generatie muzikanten, met een fusie van diverse stijlen als NewYork salsa, Puerto-ricaanse bomba en Cubaanse timba in een moderne, directe produktie. Pirulo zelf declameert z`n teksten als een kruising tussen rap en reggaeton, dit alles gelardeerd met vette blazers en heavy percussie. Album kwam afgelopen zomer meteen op nummer 1 in de hitlijsten van Puerto Rico, evenals de single “De Mí Que Hablen.” (TIP)
This is a salsa album for a young audience, under the aegis of salsa urbana. They are able to do so by having a very aggressive sound, far more aggressive than most Puertorican bands, incorporating some Cuban Timba techniques, and having Pirulo sing with a ton of Puertorican slang in a manner similar to some reggaeton artists (Tego Calderon and Julio Voltio come to mind). Pirulo doesn`t try to out sing the legends like Lavoe or Rivera, but he uses his slang and street talk to draw you, if perhaps using a bit too much self-aggrandizement, too much talk about how great Pirulo thinks his salsa is in some of his tracks
