Orlando Poleo El Buen Camino 1997

The Venezuelan percussionist`s second project begins with the excitement generated from his finely crafted debut release, Cimarroneando, and runs with it. Like his previous release, El Buen Camino alternates between high octane Latin jazz and sizzling salsa tracks. And, like the first one, Cuba`s infinitely talented Orlando "Maraca" Valle has either composed or arranged several of the tracks here, including the title track on which the legendary Cuban pianist Jesus "Chucho" Valdés (leader of Irakere) is a guest pianist. Other special guests include Pedro Escalante and Allen Holst. Special mention should be made of vocalist Edgar Quijada, who does a superb job. Listen to "Tumbador." That smoker will pull the dancers onto the dance floor, for sure. A Latin jazz / salsa must-have.
