ADALBERTO ALVAREZ Y SU SON - Respeto pá los mayores
1. Pepárate Pá Lo Que Traigo

Adalberto Álvarez, one of the most gifted composers of the past 35 years, returns with the most flavorful release of his illustrious career. If you want music that swings hard, don`t look any further.
"La lengua" and "La canción de los gorditos", have that piquant flavor that you can only find in Cuba`s street folklore. "Los caminos de Ifá / Respeto pa los mayores", has the religious/faith overtones that Adalberto does so well.
Two classics get a swinging makeover, Mr. Alvarez`s own "Somos latinos" and Arsenio Rodríguez`s "Con un amor se borra otro amor".
"Somos latinos" is listed as a bonus track, and what a bonus it is! It starts out as a brief cumbia, then goes right into a typical Cuban son, complete with a tres solo by San Miguel Pérez Rodríguez, then rich soloist vocals and smooth harmonies that remind us of the times when Aramís Galindo was the principal soloist of Adalberto`s band.
And who doesn`t love a great cha-cha-chá? "Con un amor se borra otro amor" is just that: great! The brass section is tight and makes you want to grab your partner and hold her close as you slide across the dance floor, losing yourself in San Miguel`s tres (again!).
Even the romantic tunes, "Nadie te va a querer como yo" and "Dime tu" swing harder than any salsa dura band. The chorus of "Nadie te va a querer como yo" rocks with Dhayane Rivera on piano and the chorus is smooth, yet cutting-edge.
As Reggaeton is slowly dying, Timba is rising again, and Bachata is becoming a staple in Cuba`s music scene. Yet through it all, Adalberto Álvarez y su Son have consistently delivered first rate music and have kept son alive. (review by Salsapower)
