Te gekke, feestelijke ska-cumbia band uit Chili, 2013 release
Chico Trujillo play cumbia with a twist. In many parts of South-America, particularly Chile, cumbia is more popular than salsa. Chico Trujillo use cumbia`s irresistible pulse as a jumping-off place for their own particular sound, a hybrid that includes salsa, soca, ska, surf music, jazz, chicha, and other Latin and Caribbean flavors. The band`s music is relentlessly upbeat, and this album will get any party up and moving.  Een van de vier bonus track op de 2013 editie van "El Gran Pecador" is een verrassende merengue/ska cover van Marc Anthony`s "Ahora Quien"

Chico Trujillo is a New Chilean Cumbia band merging cumbia, ska, reggae and rock, among other styles.
Chico Trujillo is one of Chile`s most important orchestras. They are the soundtrack to every party from Arica to Punta Arenas. Their mixture of classic cumbia, bolero, reggae, latin american and balcanic music has assured them an audience from every generation and walk of life. They tour the world extensively and never seem to stop. This record will appeal to fans of Balkan Beat Box, Chicha Libre, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Roots of Chicha, cumbia, uninhibited dancing and raw, unbridaled adventures in sound.
The title track is performed with Banda Conmoción, the popular high energy collective of Andean folk and cumbia, while the instrumental Caleta Vargas and "Asi es Que Vivo Yo (This is How I Live) are performed with Ãngel Parra, the son of Violeta Parra and one of the leading exponents of the Nueva Cancion Chilena (New Chilean Song), a genre of folk that emerged in the 1960s.
Other collaborations include La Banda de mi Vecino (My neighbor’s band) which features popular current singer songwriter Nano Stern on violin and Negra Santa (Black Saint) featuring the legendary Chilean cumbia band from the 1960s, La Sonora Palacios.
The album also includes a tribute to Chileân`s iconic Andean folk band, Inti-Illimani, in the form of a cover of their track La fiesta de San Benito.
